Week 10 again delivered, with a major surprise for the Bills proving the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' saying that draws so many people into the NFL
That result may have opened things up for the Patriots to creep back into a top spot they formerly held, with a schedule that gives them an advantage over their eight and two competitors
Over in the National Football Conference the Seattle Seahawks and Rams had perfect results to set up a monster clash next week, while our top performer is pursuing milestones as well as the Most Valuable Player award
The Breakdown - Simply an Off Day for the Bills?
Could it simply have been an emotional comedown from beating the Chiefs last week or something more? This remains the question for the Buffalo team to answer
The Bills had secured seven victories in a consecutive games against Miami but were second best from the beginning as the Dolphins emerged as 30-13 victors in an eye-opening outcome - and display
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only got the squad's initial first down in the third period and first points in the final quarter - admittedly the Dolphins had ten days to prepare but it was nonetheless a significant failure laid by one of the league's top offences
Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two scores but rusher De'Von Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 combined yards and two scores
Bottling up the league's best running game was also key, with James Cook and teammates recording just eighty-six yards, their fewest of the year and slightly more than half their 161.5 yard average
Then there were the three crucial ball losses, and the two from Allen specifically. An interception in the scoring area meaning a nine minute possession produced nothing, and his fourth-quarter fumble that the Dolphins turned into seven points just later
It was classic 'old Buffalo' as they hurt themselves in the foot, falling into a deficit on defense and Josh Allen trying to do too much to dig his team out of it - not the composed, disciplined, well-balanced Buffalo team we've seen this season
Miami have served up a bit of everything this season so the verdict is uncertain on if this is the start of something, but for Buffalo they'll need an instant response in a difficult matchup against Tampa Bay next week as the Patriots are sneaking into a nice lead at the summit of the American Football Conference East
In Focus - New England See Path to Surprise Top Seed
Speaking of the New England, they're among three 8-2 squads in the NFL, all AFC teams, but could they be the top team?
One could pick holes in the Patriots, Denver and the Colts really for feasting on the weaker opponents, with just five of their combined 24 victories coming against opponents with a positive record - and one of those was the Colts beating the Broncos
The Broncos beat the reigning champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are kings of the final quarter while Indy can rely on Taylor, but the New England including Sunday's win in Tampa to their prime time success in Buffalo appears to be a declaration
Their two defeats occurred in recently appointed coach Vrabel's first three contests, with seven straight wins, just like Denver, from that point - but defeating Mayfield after the Bucs had a week off to get ready was huge
Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials won't go away, and he certainly deserves point for bravery after taking some savage hits in Tampa but hanging in there to guide his team to success
The defense is solid and first-year running back TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene on game day with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating scores of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth different ball carrier to break 22 miles per hour this year on his initial touchdown
While you can debate who 'the top team' is technically, the Pats should be favourites to end with the best record due to their schedule - which features just a single matchup against a winning team, albeit a huge one against Buffalo
Visiting Baltimore is challenging too, but Denver have it even tougher in the AFC West with the Kansas City to play twice, the Los Angeles Chargers (who could also challenge for first place but encounter the identical challenge) and additionally the Packers on the fixture list
The Indianapolis also face the Chiefs, and have the Seattle, San Francisco and two matchups with the 5-4 Jacksonville to face. There's a long way to travel but the door is open for a surprise number one position in the AFC
Next Week - Rams & Seahawks Set for Next Week Showdown
Two teams with strong arguments to be superior to all of the three different eight and two sides are National Football Conference West opponents the Seahawks and Rams, who both scored forty points to go to seven and two ahead of the upcoming major game between the two in Los Angeles
They've both secured four victories in a consecutive games, have signal callers in Stafford and Darnold performing at an elite level (although Sam Darnold had turnover issues on game day) with excellent pass catchers, and defenses giving up under 20 points a game
Each could realistically be without a loss as well - particularly the Rams as their pair of losses occurred in extra time against the 49ers and then that painful defeat in Philadelphia when they had a game-winning kick with the final play blocked and returned by the Eagles for a score
The Seahawks also lost to San Francisco, with a last-minute score in week one, before losing to the last kick of the game against the Tampa Bay - so they're genuinely two of the best sides in the league
The upcoming game on Sunday could be the best of the season to date
Top Performer - Taylor
Jonathan Taylor might be on for a historic year after his remarkable performance in Berlin - rushing for 244 rushing yards, scoring three scores and contributing an additional forty-two {receiving yards
