British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on Monday, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the global fight fans had expressed its support for the champion in the following the devastating accident.
