Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the initial candidates in the frame to succeed Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on the weekend after the squad's ten-game winless beginning to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore both candidates - both of who have previous links to the team - are among the names to be considered by the Wolves leadership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town manager - who played more than 100 of games for the club during his playing career - is said to be a leading contender for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves board as they start the process of appointing a new head coach.

O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise candidate, even though he would be a shock appointment given he was released by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed which means Wolves would not be required to pay any buyout fee.
