Emma Raducanu ends the current season and will keep coach into the 2026 season.

Emma Raducanu in action during a tennis match

The British player made it to the third stage in three of the four major tournaments this year.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her remaining competitions in 2025 because of a health issue that has affected her for the last week and a half.

At 22 years old was due to play in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to regain her health before starting her preparations for 2026.

These plans are set to feature trainer Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating in 2026.

She required blood pressure checks while playing the initial match against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and withdrew when losing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She needed once more a doctor's assessment at the Ningbo Open this week, where she fell in a three-set match to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the first round.

Her movement was far from freely in the deciding set in the match with Zhu due to the lower back problem that has affected her on several occasions in 2025.

Those results signaled a promising season, in which the player advanced into the international top 30 after more than three years for the first time since 2022, concluded with three straight losses.

Raducanu had three match points before losing to American player Jessica Pegula in the third stage in last month's Beijing event.

She secured 28 victories during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami Open in March.

The British number one reached the quarter-finals of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament then falling in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She was coached by Mark Petchey as coach from Miami until Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open.

The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was until the end of the season but the partnership will continue, with planned training sessions late this year.

The athlete revealed that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati during August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she made the third stage then falling to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
