Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player by name in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
