Tributes Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt able to express about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can now put my grief into words," shared Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the production, remarking that he could not remember "any day without mirth".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a different essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles court official decided to prevent the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate issued a security hold on the files to limit the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" associated with the probe.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a public database noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Response and Criticism
After the killings, public personalities shared divergent reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing divisive claims that were widely condemned by many commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his perspective to the those speaking out last week. Conversing on his show, Rogan labeled the comments as "disturbing" and implied they showed a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an adviser should have acted when the choice to speak on the death was made.
